Artwork Framing Geelong

August 6, 2014

Black and white is called classic for a reason.  It works in a variety of situations and can often look more outstanding than any other creative combination of colours.

Often brightly coloured artwork, as in the example below, can look even more striking when it is framed in simple black and white.  In this case, the intensity of the colours is contrasted with the stark white mat and the solid black frame.  The colours of the artwork are the made more significant as there are no competing colours.  In this example, the artwork has been “floated”, that is mounted on a black background, so that the edges are visible.  The single white mat is raised off the backing to give the aspect of looking into the artwork.

The overall effect is amazingly simple yet extremely effective.
